The Swiss Army Pocket Knife

The Value of the Swiss Army Pocket Knife

The Swiss Army Pocket Knife has been around now for decades. Now days you can find several tools in the stores that have multiple functions but the Swiss Army Pocket Knife was really the pioneer in the industry with being a tool that could serve multiple functions and serve those functions well. Still today, the Swiss Army Pocket Knife continues to sell well and has a loyal fan base and following. There are thousands of people that continue to carry the same Swiss Army Pocket Knife that they have carried for years. Below are some of the tools you will find on the Swiss Army Pocket Knife.

Blade

What would a knife be without a blade? If you need to cut something, they often have multiple sizes of blades. The benefit is that you can use one for your dirty jobs and the other for cutting your food. Or, if you want you can use one for the harder more abusive jobs like cutting wood and the other for lighter and more delicate jobs so that you can ensure that it stays sharp.

Scissors

As a kid I was always a fan of the scissors and found myself pulling them out to cut string, paper and other things. In reality, they serve more use than just playing with them. They are actually very functional and very sharp. They definitely function as a normal pair of scissors do.

Nail File with Nail Cleaner

Ever been out camping and found yourself with nasty nails? This may seem like a girly thing to do, but it actually can bother the most rugged of men. The nail file and nail cleaner is a great tool to use before you sit down at the camping fire and prepare your hands to eat. The worst thing is trying to eat with that fishy smell still reeking from underneath your nails and being unable to do anything about it.

Cuticle Pusher

This is probably the tool for the more feminine men. Just kidding, it actually makes for a great knife even if you are not outside camping. While many of the tools would tailor towards a camping or outdoor atmosphere, this tool proves that the Swiss Army Pocket Knife was meant to be more than that. It was meant to be taken into your day to day jobs where appearance is crucial inside of a business atmosphere.

Screwdriver with Ruler

Ever been in a situation where you had a small screw coming loose on a door or inside the car and it irritates you to the point where you just have to get it tightened? The Swiss Army Pocket Knife gives you a tool that you can quickly pull out and fix those little annoying things.

Emergency Blade (Letter Opener)

As mentioned above the Swiss Army Pocket Knife comes with multiple blades. Most people in the corporate world use the smaller blade as a sharp letter opener. It is the perfect size to stick inside the edge of the envelope and provide a simple and clean look to your opened letters rather than the rough look I give when I try to open a letter manually without a tool.

Key Ring

I cannot count the amount of normal pocket knives I have lost or just do not carry around. I do not wake up in the morning and on my way out the door think about carrying a pocket knife. However, there have been multiple times where I would have wished I had one. This is where the key ring comes into play. If you have the smaller versions of the Swiss Army Pocket Knife you will find this neat little feature and you will never leave home without it!

LED Mini White Light

How many times have you been outside in the dark and you haven’t been able to get your campfire going yet? Or, how many times have you been trying to put up your tent in the dark? Maybe, you just dropped something outside the car and need to find it. These are situations where the LED Mini White Lights come into play. This very bright but small light is very effective in the darkest of light.

The Swiss Army Pocket Knife

is a registered trademark for one of the most popular brands of pocket knife and multitools on the market today.

It started in 1897 in Ibach Schwyz, Switzerland. The trademark is owned by Victorinox and Wenger who are historically associated with supplying knives to the Swiss Armed Forces.

Traditionally the Swiss Army pocket knife has a conventional blade as well as a number of various multifunctional tools such as corkscrews and screwdrivers. When not in use the tools are hidden within the handle of the pocket knife. They are opened with a similar mechanism to the blade of a knife, that is it pivots around one end.

Various models have been introduced over the years including most recently the cybertool, and the USB knife. Both of these are very pertinent to the computer age.

Each of the different models carries various common tools but also introduces specific tools for their chosen tasks

These common tools usually include the ubiquitous blade, a smaller blade, corkscrew, pliers, can opener, bottle opener, screwdrivers, scissors, hook, ballpoint pen, tweezers, and toothpick.

The Presentation Master is a new model which was introduced to the world in January 2010, it will be available to the public in April 2010.

The Presentation Master will be the most advanced Swiss Army Pocket Knife available to date. It will include a fingerprint secured 32GB USB flash drive with Bluetooth and a laser pointer. One of the model lines will also be the first Swiss Army Pocket Knife to become available without any blades and it will be called the Presentation Master flight model.

As it is bladeless it will be permitted on aeroplanes. The USB drive is capable of being detached from the main body of the knife. This enables passengers with bladed versions to carry their data on board while the knife is stored in their luggage.

The Swiss Army Pocket Knife range is traditionally colored red and includes on its body the white cross logo of Victorinox. Today, many other colors are available due to consumer demand.

Such is the popularity of the knives manufactured by Victorinox and Wenger that a community has developed around them offering customised modifications which includes colour schemes and replacement wooden inserts for the handle.
